Beyond the Basics Tools

Almost everybody has the basic tools, a hammer, a screwdriver and saw, but there are some tools beyond the basics that you might want to consider adding to your collection.

First addition, a combination power drill and screwdriver. This tool makes everything from changing cabinet hardware to installing a deadbolt a breeze.

A random orbit sander is a great choice that can help with projects from finish work to stripping paint. Its action leaves you with a flawless finish, plus these sanders suck dust up through holes in the sandpaper and filter it into a dust bag creating less dust than a regular sander. Make sure that you still wear a safety mask!

A circular saw is another tool you may want to invest in. If you do a lot of projects that require a saw it will save you a lot of time and is more precise than a handsaw.

A multi-position ladder can be indispensable for a variety of projects. Use it as a regular stepladder, an extension ladder to reach the roof and clean gutters or for scaffolding for painting and window washing.
