Deposits

Everybody wants to get rid of that nasty buildup that just seems to appear on things like salt shakers, sink stoppers and the inside of teapots. Here's how to get rid of those mineral deposits.

Salt shakers can get clogged with salt and sometimes form a green tarnish. To clean salt shakers, boil in water with a few teaspoons of baking soda. When you pull them out, if there is stubborn buildup in the holes, poke through them with the end of a paper clip.

Bathroom sinks can also end up with buildup and deposits - this is called limescale and it shows up when you have hard water. To get rid of limescale, cut a lemon in half and use it to scrub the area - this will cut through the scaling.

The inside of a teapot can look unattractive, but it's easy to clean, too! Fill the teapot with a quart of water and 3/4 cup of white vinegar. Bring to a boil for 10-15 minutes. Let the pot cool, then wash it as usual. All of the deposits should disappear.
