Install Mini-Blinds

Installing mini blinds sounds like an easy project, but you might have some questions; How do I measure? Do I mount them on the inside or the outside of the window?

Inside mounting gives you a nice, clean look, but outside mounting will give you better light control. So really it's a matter of preference. Here's how to measure for both.

For inside mounting, measure the distance between the two points where you'll place your brackets. Take measurements for the top, the middle and the bottom of the window. Use the narrowest measurement. Next, measure the length of the window from the casing at the top of the window down to the sill.

For an outside mount, measure the width of the window and add three inches to the measurement. This will give you an inch and a half overlap on both sides. Then measure the length of the window starting three inches above the window and stopping at the sill.

To hang the blinds, hold the brackets in place and mark the screw positions with a pencil. Carefully, drill pilot holes into the casing. Attach the brackets with screws.

Place the blinds into the brackets and slip the end caps into place for a nice finished look.

Install a cleat or two cup hooks spaced a few inches apart to wind your cord around, especially if you have little ones.
